He can read people thoughts except Bella's , and Alice has visions of the future. They can go out during the day, but prefer bad weather, because when it's sunny their skin glows like diamonds and everyone would notice that they don't look natural, hence not human.
For Edward it's hard to be too close to Bella, such as kissing her for example, because she's like "his own personal brand of heroin" as he says. It's hard for him, because he would like to drink her blood, but at the same time he loves her.
At the end of the film, Bella is still with Edward and would like to be an immortal as well so that they could be 17 and together forever.
He asks her if one lifetime is not enough for her, and she replies that for the moment she can live with that.
The film explores sexual tension for teenagers very well. It's also a very modern film about friendly vampires as we haven't seen since a long time.
Maybe a bit in "Interview with a vampire", or in Buffy, but it's still very different. I recommend it, but if you can, read the 4 books first even if they seem huge, they are amazing and you will read them very quickly as they are extremely entertaining.

The deep love and fascination between Bella and Edward is vague and you have to guess how she's feeling and Edward Robert Pattinson - may he find his way to my pillow as a vampire!
If it's true that he was toned down against his wishes - BIG mistake! Kristen Stewart can be irritating when she shows so little emotion, she obviously needs to learn how to open her mouth when she speaks and Edward shins up the most amazing trees with Bella on his back - obviously totally forgetting that she is supposed to be not only accident prone but really scared of the great outdoors!
A little more attention to developing the strange obsessesional love story might have helped. The actors are well chosen Kristen Stewart is exactly as I imagined Bella - although I'm not too sure about the Carlisle choice - and its just a shame that the screenplay wasn't better.
Pity because its a brilliant story - but I shall look out for the other films as I am now hooked on the Twilight series.
Hopefully the screenwriting will improve. As I say don't expect too much - watch the dvd as something removed from the book - if you've already read it - and you'll enjoy it.

I liked the film, but I am going to focus mainly on the bonus features of this 2-disc set. If you enjoyed the film then the bonus disc is definitely worth watching.
The extended scenes include a longer sequence of Bella and Edward lying in the meadow. You don't know how it's tortured me,' Edward tells Bella, who replies 'I'd rather die than stay away from you.
I don't understand why they didn't put it in the movie because it really captures the 'essence' of the book, as well as the relationship and chemistry between Bella and Edward.
There are 2 deleted scenes of Bella and Edward. The first is a slightly different scene of when Bella dreams of Edward.
She 'wakes up', sees him standing at the foot of her bed, reaches over and kisses him, before waking up for real, sees him standing there, puts the light on and then he's gone.
The second contains the famous line 'Bella, your number was up the first day I met you. When a fan asks if anything spontaneous happened during filming, the director Catherine Hardwicke shares with the audience that when Kristen and Robert were rehearsing the kiss scene, Rob got a little passionate and fell off the bed.
The audio commentary could have been a bit more informative about the filming process. Catherine Hardwicke occasionally says things like: 'Rob, you're looking pretty buff in this scene,' which I thought was hilarious.
Basically, if you saw the movie and thought there could have been more Bella and Edward, and left the theatre feeling short-changed because you could see the chemistry but felt it wasn't developed properly, I would recommend this edition for the extended footage and deleted scenes.

I will say that Twilight the film has changed quite a few bits from the book, certain things are left out I won't give specific spoilers , though I guess that's true of all of the films so far I watched eclipse in the cinema yesterday and loved it, I'm only at the beginning of the book but I can already see things have been changed which I think would have made for an even better film, but hey it was still awesome too me.
Well worth a watch if you like a broad range of films, great characters, a different than usual take on vampires. Overall it has a good story, believable actors, kept me glued the whole way through, I can fully understand why it's loved by so many people.
The only negative for me is that the film didn't follow the book totally, I would say the film is a good companion to the book and makes the story more real.
If you have a HD set up I recommend getting this on Blu Ray, although DVD upscaled still looks pretty good, just much softer, with less detail and crispness.
I watched this film before I read the book and really enjoyed it. However it seemed a bit lacking so I thought I'd give the books a whirl.
A few days and much missed sleep later I've read all 4 of the Twilight saga and am a confirmed fan. However on returning to the film it is now evident how much better it could have been.
Much of the story and scenes have been tweaked and changed, including the best and most pivotal scene in the book in the meadow for those of you in the know.
Edward and Bella's intense and complicated relationship is not really built up in the film, and watching it a second time in places it is actually a bit bizarre, and others downright wrong.
Additionally the film misses the key point to Edward, that his biggest concern above all else is Bella's safety, and in no way would he risk dragging her up trees as he does in the set piece in the film, obviously designed to show off the beautiful landscape.
Robert Pattinson is very pretty as Edward, but never smiles, which is a shame as Edward smiles alot in the book, so he doesn't quite hit the spot for me.
Overall a pretty film, but pales to insignificance beside the book. I'm actually 24 and i thoroughly enjoyed it! I would suggest watching this movie with an open mind.

But I admit the book is good compared to the movie which is always the case but I loved the fact that the movie had a sort of overall view of both characters rather than just bella's viewpoint especially in the end when I thought the book didn't really describe fight scene.
So in my opinion the movie has its weaknesses and strengths. But this movie isn't for people that are all about the blood and gore so I wouldn't recommend it to people with that kind of taste.
I'll be reaching my 30s hell sooner than I whanted so I'll never classify as teen. True the story is very teenage oriented, but one could write it to be much more mature and the core interest would remain the same: "tempting tempting but you must not give in".
The fact that they don't overload us in action and drama is also freezing new! One can actually apreciate the whole thing with a sense of satisfaction and warmth that is inedit in the movie industry!

I whent to see this by accident! Still, all through the movie I got the sensation I was reading a book. The way the speeches are written, the way the story is presented, and the pleasing feeling I get through my fave books that always lacks in the cinema.
So i was no suprised when i googled it for the soundtrack and found it to be book based! The characters are very true to their age.
And all the other school kids are exactly the same as my bonehead jolly collagues from that grade! Not the cruel, superficial and incredibly dumb teens sorted into neat little theme groups we see in every movie these days.
This movie stands out for these many other little details. I've seen it twice and would've seen a third time if the tickets wheren't so expensive!
In a word: overrated. Twilight is aimed squarely at a teen girl market who want to be enthralled by sparkly vampire Edward Cullen.
Frankly, the plot is thin and verges on tedious, although there are some fun scenes the baseball scene in particular but I would recommend the second instalment The Twilight Saga: New Moon 1 Disc [DVD] [ ] as opposed to the first, but see it if you must.
Enjoyable but not worth the hype. I loved all the Twilight books and I do really like this film but was dissapointed by how rushed the film felt, especially the beginning.
Stephenie Meyer made a point of how long it took Bella and Edward to get together and this film ruins that, especially the scene of Bella and Edward in Bellas bedroom when that doesn't really happen in the book as Edward keeps himself from her.
Originally I didn't think that they cast Edward particularly well as the book makes him out to be totally beautiful but upon watching the film you do get drawn into Robert Pattinson, would look hotter with shorter hair and smaller eyebrows!
Overall did enjoy the film but they could have made it so much better. I really enjoyed the film of Twilight.
If you've read the book before seeing the film, it does differ slightly and I would try not to worry too much about it sticking to the book.
Both the story and the book are told from Bella's point of view. Obviously not all scenes from the book are included but the majority of big quotes from the book are used in the film.
You get the gist of it by the end of the film. Bella comes as being slightly pathetic at times and then not - the character isn't very consistant.
Worth watching and the extras are also worth it. Music videos, deleted scenes and extended scenes and director info, how the book became a film etc.

Much of the story and scenes have been tweaked and changed, including the best and most pivotal scene in the book in the meadow for those of you in the know.
Edward and Bella's intense and complicated relationship is not really built up in the film, and watching it a second time in places it is actually a bit bizarre, and others downright wrong.
Additionally the film misses the key point to Edward, that his biggest concern above all else is Bella's safety, and in no way would he risk dragging her up trees as he does in the set piece in the film, obviously designed to show off the beautiful landscape.
Robert Pattinson is very pretty as Edward, but never smiles, which is a shame as Edward smiles alot in the book, so he doesn't quite hit the spot for me.
Overall a pretty film, but pales to insignificance beside the book. I'm actually 24 and i thoroughly enjoyed it! I would suggest watching this movie with an open mind.
The special features disc is very generous, with deleted scenes, commentary from the director and stars, music videos etc! I strongly recommend this movie for teenagers and us older girls as well!
When I first saw the movie I had never even heard of the books so when I went to watch it I judged the movie based on the movie it self not comparing it to the book.
I knew twilight was going to be about vampires and that it was a romantic story. For me the movie took a while to start but once it started I was hooked my favorite scene was the baseball scene that was so awesome.
I loved the characters and robert pattinson as edward was great choice in my opinion. This was definitely one of those movies that I will watch over and over again.
I loved the fact that it wasn't a typical vampire movie where everything was all about sucking blood. It was a good twist to the typical vampire movie image.
When I got home I decided to read the books when I read twilight after watching the movie I realized that some of the scenes have been changed but obviously they couldn't make a movie out of the entire book because we would probably end sitting in the cinema for hours.
But I admit the book is good compared to the movie which is always the case but I loved the fact that the movie had a sort of overall view of both characters rather than just bella's viewpoint especially in the end when I thought the book didn't really describe fight scene.
So in my opinion the movie has its weaknesses and strengths. But this movie isn't for people that are all about the blood and gore so I wouldn't recommend it to people with that kind of taste.
I'll be reaching my 30s hell sooner than I whanted so I'll never classify as teen. True the story is very teenage oriented, but one could write it to be much more mature and the core interest would remain the same: "tempting tempting but you must not give in".
The fact that they don't overload us in action and drama is also freezing new! One can actually apreciate the whole thing with a sense of satisfaction and warmth that is inedit in the movie industry!
I whent to see this by accident! Still, all through the movie I got the sensation I was reading a book. The way the speeches are written, the way the story is presented, and the pleasing feeling I get through my fave books that always lacks in the cinema.
So i was no suprised when i googled it for the soundtrack and found it to be book based! The characters are very true to their age.
And all the other school kids are exactly the same as my bonehead jolly collagues from that grade! Not the cruel, superficial and incredibly dumb teens sorted into neat little theme groups we see in every movie these days.
This movie stands out for these many other little details. I've seen it twice and would've seen a third time if the tickets wheren't so expensive!
In a word: overrated. Twilight is aimed squarely at a teen girl market who want to be enthralled by sparkly vampire Edward Cullen. Frankly, the plot is thin and verges on tedious, although there are some fun scenes the baseball scene in particular but I would recommend the second instalment The Twilight Saga: New Moon 1 Disc [DVD] [ ] as opposed to the first, but see it if you must.
Enjoyable but not worth the hype. I loved all the Twilight books and I do really like this film but was dissapointed by how rushed the film felt, especially the beginning.
Stephenie Meyer made a point of how long it took Bella and Edward to get together and this film ruins that, especially the scene of Bella and Edward in Bellas bedroom when that doesn't really happen in the book as Edward keeps himself from her.
Originally I didn't think that they cast Edward particularly well as the book makes him out to be totally beautiful but upon watching the film you do get drawn into Robert Pattinson, would look hotter with shorter hair and smaller eyebrows!
Overall did enjoy the film but they could have made it so much better. I really enjoyed the film of Twilight. If you've read the book before seeing the film, it does differ slightly and I would try not to worry too much about it sticking to the book.
Both the story and the book are told from Bella's point of view. Obviously not all scenes from the book are included but the majority of big quotes from the book are used in the film.
You get the gist of it by the end of the film. Bella comes as being slightly pathetic at times and then not - the character isn't very consistant.
Worth watching and the extras are also worth it. Music videos, deleted scenes and extended scenes and director info, how the book became a film etc.
