I find it relaxing. The setting makes no sense, the characters don't really either, the episodes don't teach anything, nobody learns from their mistakes, all the characters are dysfunctional, there's no point to any of it.
It is all totally pointless. That said, once you get past the idea that the show 'ought to have a point, the show can be quite enjoyable, and frankly I wish they had been able to make more episodes.
If you do find yourself enjoying this one, it's actually quite similar to the Anime: Blood Battle Blockade, which is also largely pointless and features the same, bizarre new york setting.
One person found this helpful. Under-rated show. Certainly off the beaten path and likely not for everyone, it's a mix of odd-ball antics, some slap stick comedy, and outrageous creatures poking fun at the absurdities of our human lives through the veil of otherworldly creatures.
While not the most introspective of shows, there are some touching morals and context provided by the main character Mark. His roommate Randall "went zombie for all the wrong reasons" and adds an element of the odd couple to the show.
Callie, Mark's demonic girlfriend and boss adds some sex appeal while adding in a link between Mark and the underworld. A truly great, strange, and funny series!
Totally bizzare and totally excellent if you like this kind of humor. The stories are funny and unpredictable. I have enjoyed each episode so far.
When I first watched it, I only watched about 20 minutes then turned it off. I came back later and let me tell you, I must have been either insane or having a bad day to have not liked it.
I heartily recommend watching this great, dark, strange series. You will not be disappointed and you will be pleasantly surprised. Sorry I waited so long to see this show, it's wonderfully oddball, racy, surreal, and twisted, with an inspired cast of characters and a over-the-top premise.
A geeky-fun experience, with only a few missteps here and there, but what sitcom doesn't have hiccups?
I really do hope the creators of Ugly Americans are given another opportunity to visit their characters again, either as a Third Season, or perhaps a few extended specials ala Futurama's mid-life endgame.
If you've ever liked comic books, monster movies, old Mad Magazine 50's through the mid 70's , the first Men In Black hey, it was a good laugh!
I kinda remembered this from it's run on The Cartoon Network, watched a few episodes, interesting. So it piqued my interest when it came up on Prime, and I watched the whole series.
Silly, blasphemous, inventive, and perhaps pushes the envelope a bit, especially in teh episodes on demon reproduction.
An appealling and imperfect main character and his zombie room mate try to get through their 20's in a world where monsters are commonplace and expected, and hilarious.
My favorite was the Man Bird episode, you have to see it to undersatnd it. I think they ended it at the right time, it was running out of steam in the latter part of the last season.
The central romance consists of a social worker and the daughter of the devil. If that does not intrigue you, then stray away.
This show is extremely funny and clever as it reels you into a world that consists of human and inhuman Americans. Horror tropes are used for comedic effect, exemplified by the moral center of the show and his zombie roommate.
If you love horror movies, there will be countless references throughout that make you giggle because they are not always obvious, but it feels very rewarding when you do find them.
If you love comedy, this show is for you as well. The only problem is that it ended too soon. If you like BoJack Horseman, you would probably like this; it is off the wall, moderately offensive and funny.
Considering some of the tired shows that seem to go on for endless, repetitive seasons, I was disappointed that this one only got two.
