I grabbed all the Atmos samples from here and then got information about them via mediainfo. This told me that they were all 7. My receiver , the Marantz is a 9.
When I eventually move into my dedicated cinema room I intend to set up a system incorporating two fronts and a centre, two sides, two rears and two ceiling speakers along with a couple of subwoofers.
My question is will these files give me the true Atmos experience despite mediainfo not reporting any ceiling channels as being present?

Amaze Atmos is stunning — a real lesson in articulating the sound around the speakers. But I have a question on Atmos if I may? But I played Everest BD and the rear surrounds are silent.
The Heights worked and the film sounded phenomenal, ridiculous sub-sonics across the last 50 mins! The Amaze Atmos demo went around all 9.
Is this an Onkyo set up issue? Is there an Onkyo setting that will kick the rears in as well as the heights? Sorry for the long explanation.
Cheers Glen. It sounds like you have everything set up correctly. Have you confirmed that there actually no audio in the rear channels when playing Everest?
I would actually go and put your ear close to a rear speaker to confirm that there is nothing but silence.
The Everest track is 7. I find my rear speakers to be very difficult to isolate when watching a movie, and really the Dolby Amaze trailer is the best example I have heard of an actual sound in the rear channels where I could honestly sense the sound moving behind me.
For the most part I find the rears help to give the surround soundstage better balance and coverage. Anyway, play Everest again and go up to your rear channels and confirm if they are indeed silent.
The heights are kicking in nicely but no sound from the rears. I think I know what the issue might be: My Onkyo is 7.

I would make sure that you are setting your output to bitstream instead of using any internal decoders. Enkel dan kan je geluidsoplossing de Atmos stream zelf decoderen.

Sluit de externe bron via HDMI aan op je audio-installatie in plaats van op je tv. Dat is sowieso de geprefereerde situatie als je een AV-receiver gebruikt.
Maar ook bij een Atmos compatibele soundbar sluit je best het bronapparaat rechtstreeks op de soundbar aan. De audio installatie kan dan je Atmos soundtrack spelen, en stuurt beeld door naar de tv.
Wat echter als je Atmos soundbar niet voldoende ingangen heeft? Of wat als je de streaming apps van de tv wenst te gebruiken? We onderscheiden drie belangrijke gevallen.
De meest voorkomende optie voor mensen die content streamen van bijvoorbeeld Netflix. Je gebruikt in dit geval de Netflix app op de tv.
Dat vereist wel dat de soundbar en televisie correct met elkaar communiceren zodat de televisie weet dat er een Atmos compatibele geluidsoplossing aangesloten is.
Deze optie wordt op de modellen vrijwel universeel ondersteund. Heb je een dergelijke opstelling, zorg er dan zeker voor dat zowel je soundbar als tv de meest recente firmware gebruiken.
Wat als je een externe bron gebruikt voor je streaming toepassingen? In dit geval moet de app op je externe speler uiteraard Atmos ondersteunen, en net als bij de voorgaande optie moeten de geluidsoplossing en de tv correct met elkaar communiceren zodat de tv weet dat er een Atmos compatibele geluisdoplossing aangesloten is.
Is dat het geval dan moet de tv tot slot in staat zijn om die Atmos track door te sturen via ARC naar de geluidsinstallatie. Ook voor dit scenario zien we op de modellen vrijwel universele ondersteuning.
De speler is aangesloten op je televisie via HDMI. Als je tv en je geluidsoplossing dit ondersteunen is er geen probleem.
Maar wat als je televisie geen eARC heeft? Dan is er nog een andere mogelijkheid. Hier varieert de gekozen optie bij de fabrikanten. Dolby Atmos prijkt op heel wat televisies, maar het betekent helaas niet altijd hetzelfde.
Bovendien spelen er afhankelijk van je bron en opstelling nog andere factoren mee, zoals de eventuele aanwezigheid van eARC. Wie in de markt is voor een nieuwe televisie en Atmos wenst, neemt deze belangrijke conclusie ter harte: informeer je duidelijk over de mogelijkheden van je nieuwe televisie.
En bedenk op voorhand welke bron je wenst te gebruiken, of je met een externe audio-oplossing werkt en hoe je alles aan elkaar aansluit. Zijn streaming apps je enige bron, dan is de kans dat je opstelling werkt het grootst.
Werk je met Ultra HD Blu-ray schijven, dan moet je afhankelijk van de opstelling een televisie met eARC of transcoding mogelijkheid zoeken.
De gemakkelijkste oplossing is in elk geval om je bron rechtstreeks op een externe audio-installatie aan te sluiten. Het resultaat zal dan ook veel indrukwekkender zijn dan wanneer je op de ingebouwde speakers van de tv vertrouwt.

Mijn ervaring is AV receivers het beste met losse speakers kost wel wat meer dan soundbar maar de duurste soundbar is natuurlijk ook goed.
Ik zelf heb marantz oppo oef speakers 7 rondom 1 sub 2 hoogte speakers. Is ook niet goed koop maar geluid in dolby atmos is geweldig wel alles goed afstellen.
Alle tabellen zijn opgesteld op basis van rechtstreekse vragen aan de fabrikant. In de meeste gevallen hebben die enkel info geleverd over de modellen.
De Sony ZF9 is helaas een model dat niet doorloopt dit jaar. De beste gok is om te kijken naar de AF9 ook een model en te veronderstellen dat de mogelijkheden identiek zullen zijn.
Hier gaan uw tabellen over het beheer van Dolby Atmos. U geeft modellen van LG aan van en Ja, omdat zoals in mijn eerder antwoord vermeld, ik enkel info publiceer die aangeleverd is door fabrikanten.
Sony heeft dat helaas niet gedaan. Ja, de ZF9 heeft eARC en je mag ook al zoals in het vorige antwoord vermeld dus wel veronderstellen dat hij dezelfde mogelijkheden heeft als de AF9, maar echt zeker is dat nu eenmaal niet.
Het toestel is uitgerust met vier HDMI-aansluitingen, waarvan een opzij en drie achteraan. Ze zijn allemaal uitgerust met HDCP 2. Verder zijn dit nog steeds HDMI 2.
Vraagje van een leek.. Theoretisch: ja, dat is mogelijk, je valt dan onder optie 1 in het artikel. Je kan dat dus best gewoon even nakijken je zou een Atmos logo moeten zien op het venster van de SK9Y.
Overigens, als je in Netflix geen Dolby Atmos logo bij de titel ziet dan heb je al zeker geen Atmos soundtrack.
Dat kan gebeuren als de tv niet aan Netflix vertelt dat hij Atmos compatibel is dankzij de aangesloten soundbar want in dat geval zal Netflix geen Atmos tracks aanbieden.
Hmm ok, heb een netflix premium plan em heb de streaming quality op high gezet, zit nog steeds bij geen een titel de dolby atmos logo erbij staan.
Alleen hdr of uhd.. Wel vreemd, het geluid gaat toch via de interne netflix app naar de soundbar, waarom moet de tv atmos hierbij ook ondersteunen?
Ik was nog vergeten vermelden dat de soundbar en televisie correct met elkaar moeten communiceren zodat de tv weet dat er een Atmos compatibele soundbar beschikbaar is artikel aangepast in die zin.
Helaas blijkt dat niet altijd het geval. Los ervan heb ik een Sony soundbar HT-ZF9 die aangesloten is op de arc bij Samsung en bij Sony en als ik een demo van admos bekijk en luister heb ik niet het gevoel dat ik van het geluit rondom ringsloten ben, vooral niet van boven.
Wat doe ik verkeerd? De ZF9 heeft alle luidsprekers in dezelfde lijn en kan daardoor moeilijk geluiden in verticale richtingen projecteren.
Om Atmos goed weer te kunnen geven heeft een soundbar ook luidsprekers aan de boven en bij voorkeur ook de zijkanten nodig. Helaas kom je er na aanschaf van je tv pas achter dat de Dolby Plus optie bij Netflix en andere streaming diensten niet werkt bij gebruik van de arc functie.
Ondanks dat het zou moeten werken volgens de beschrijving. Ik denk dat veel kopers hetzelfde ervaren en teleurgesteld zijn.
De eenvoudigste oplossing die voor mij wel werkte was dat ik een Chromecast Ultra heb gekocht 79 euro en deze in de HDMI poort van mijn versterker heb geplugd.
Na installatie kan je genieten van Netflix met Dolby Atmos Plus in het geval van streaming en HDR beide dienen wel beschikbaar te zijn uiteraard.
Voor dat laatste dient je versterker uiteraard wel 4K compatable te zijn. Klopt toch he wat ik zeg? Dolby says that between Blu-ray and streaming, more than movies have been created for Atmos in the home.
