Denn nach wie vor hat Lucifer mit seiner Existenz als Engel abgeschlossen und will von seinen Schwingen nichts wissen. Dass er allerdings auch seine Teufelsfratze verloren hat, obwohl er sich Chloe Lauren German endlich als Satan offenbaren wollte, ärgert Lucifer deutlich mehr.

Staffel 3 beginnt furchtbar. Die erste Folge erzählt eigentlich gar nichts, auch Folge 2 plätschert belanglos vor sich hin.

Tatsächlich könnte dieser sehr schwache Start der Grund dafür gewesen sein, dass die Quoten auch unten blieben, als die Staffel besser wurde.

Und natürlich die Folge 7, das Highlight der ganzen ersten Hälfte. Wird Chloe in Staffel 3 endlich Lucifers wahre Herkunft glauben? Man merkt der Staffel leider an, dass sie nicht nur Altlasten aus Staffel 2 mit wegsenden musste, sondern mit insgesamt 26 Episoden schlicht zu lang für den Hauptplot um den Sinnerman und andere Geheimnisse war.

Während die ersten beiden Staffeln ihre Mörder der Woche-Storys oft noch mit kurzen Szenen aus der übergeordneten Geschichte schmücken konnten, mäandert Staffel 3 hier zu Beginn arg vor sich hin.

Wäre nicht der nach wie vor grandiose Tom Ellis, der seinen Charakter im dritten Jahr im Schlaf beherrscht und weiterhin seine herrlich arrogant-versnobbte Figur mit gutem Timing für Pointen und der richtigen Betonung der Situation darstellt, die Staffel wäre kaum der Rede wert.

Insgesamt ist Lucifer Staffel 3 aber trotz echter Perlen wie Folge 3 oder 7 bisher die schwächste von allen. Daher ist die Absetzung der Serie durch Fox tatsächlich nicht so verwunderlich, wie sie nach zwei Staffeln wirkt.

Es bleibt zu hoffen, dass Netflix die Serienmacher in der vierten, zehnteiligen Staffel stärker von der Leine lässt und Lucifer etwas freizügiger und blutiger werden darf.

Dann dürfte auch weiteren Staffeln wenig im Weg stehen. Leider ist der erste Teil von Staffel 3 kein Highlight der Serie, nur etwa die Hälfte ist wirklich sehenswert.

Die andere Hälfte langweilt mitunter mehr, als sie unterhält. Die Autoren haben sich aber in Staffel 3 definitiv nicht mit Ruhm bekleckert und die Entscheidung der Showrunner, was sie als roten Faden der Staffel nutzen wollten, war auch nicht die Beste.
